District 9 Zontians advocate against child marriage in California

Zontian Ela Pandya, the chair of the Coalition to End Child Marriage in California, along with other members of District 9, held a press conference at the Burbank City Hall to spread awareness that child marriages are allowed in California.

Vice Mayor Nick Schultz and three city council members were in attendance to listen to Ela, who shared the status of child marriage state laws and three survivors who shared their stories. Later, the vice mayor read an official proclamation supporting Zonta's efforts to end such basic human rights violations in the state.
